Vincent Calabrese: Fly’Ora-The butterfly has made everything beautiful in its time

Vincent Calabrese is a relatively known luxury watch independent maker that is distinct for making “jumping hour” timepieces. This time, Vincent Calabrese has taken extra steps to re-create a jumping hour dress watch specifically for ladies. Today, I write about a rather lovely and decadent women’s timepiece model that is the Vincent Calabrese Fly’Ora model.

Inspired by the metamorphoses of the caterpillar and with the passage of time transforms into a graceful butterfly, the Vincent Calabrese Fly’Ora is an allusion that pays homage to this spectacular change. This Fly’Ora automatic timepiece draws inspiration similarly to the Vincent Calabrese Fl’Ora model—that nature unites the laws of physics with art. With each new hour, this watch reveals nature’s transformation and her ability to evolve with time. The watches in the Fly’Ora collection show time in the traditional way while employing a complex complication that reveals a new butterfly with each new hour. This jump-hour mechanism, while telling us the time, also takes us on a journey through nature, reflecting the unification of two masterful techniques of the watchmaker’s art.

The Fly’Ora not only has a stunning watchmaking exterior and finish but also an impressive movement inside that is available in an automatic movement. The watch is powered by a Swiss Automatic ETA2892 modified in-house movement that allows the unique roving jumping hour and generates 44 hours power reserve. It is housed in a Stainless Steel 32mm case that is water resistant to 50meters and a sapphire caseback and domed sapphire top crystal. It reveals its secret movement through a see-through exhibition case back to showcase the beauty. It comes in a variety of colours such as baby pink, baby blue and white with a security clasp fitted to its case, creating a youthful and elegant look.

Not that the aesthetics are unimportant here but I find the jumping hour feature really interesting and special. With a plethora of ladies' watches out there, I have never seen a jumping hour watch created for women. Not only can this watch tell you the time, it could also be an accessory to match your outfits and add a finishing touch of sophistication to your whole look.
