Edox: Grand Ocean Special Edition-Made for Sailors

by Timepiece Atelier on Apr 27th, 2021

In 2014, Edox has become the Official Timekeeper of the Extreme sail competition. Over the years, it has constructed countless timepieces that were hits amongst the Edox fans and sailing fans. Today, we will be zooming into one of the most distinguished maritime collection that was proudly made by Edox.

Slapping the Edox Grand Ocean on your wrist is like carrying a prestigious gold medal. Compared to the ordinary Grand Ocean models, it is more upgraded, luxurious and authoritative. Well, a bit like catching up with an old friend after a long time and realized that he has glowed up.

The Grand Ocean Special Edition is housed in a 48mm case, built meticulously with high-quality materials to resonate with the spirit of the competition. It is made of stainless steel, with the case being constructed of multiplex assembly of up to 60 parts to resemble the complex composite of a sailboat.

The intangible mechanics of the timepiece can be seen via a unique porthole at the case back that takes after a submarine window pod. A specially designed world map adds a nice finishing touch to the caseback. The world map symbolizes the majestic and limitless ocean as well as Edox’s association with the Extreme Sailing Series.

Its case back is made of stainless steel and black PVD case which improves the durability and enhances the aesthetics of the watch. The Grand Ocean Special Edition is classic and elegant, displaying hours, minutes, seconds, an easy-to-read big date, and chronograph. A sub-dial at 9 o’clock is an essential tool for competitive sailors as it indicates the race time. While the luminous hands and indexes mean vital readings can read easily even in the lowest light conditions.

The Grand Ocean Special Edition is powered by an automatic Edox calibre 45 “engine” – the Dubois Depraz 4500 movement. Invigorating a 40-to-44-hour power reserve, this one mighty “engine” would not fail any sailors and would last with them even after the race has ended.

Hand-constructed at the Edox base in Les Genevez, Switzerland, the Edox Grand Ocean Special Edition has a water resistance of 300m/990 feet and features a grooved black or blue rotating diving bezel for an easier grip. The screw-down crown is also embellished with Edox’s logo. Lastly, it is furnished with Triple horns as lugs, a notable feature of this collection that ensures superior fit of the leather embossed strap. The strap would curve nicely around your wrist, giving you maximum comfort when wearing it.

Sailors, if you could warp your entire wish list into one wish, it would be the Edox Grand Ocean Special edition watch. Nonetheless, amateur divers or sailors could wear this watch too. Of course, you can get it because of its fantastic aesthetics too! Get it now at Timepiece Atelier with a discounted price of $3,240.00. (S$5,400.00 Regular Price)
