Arbutus #MyFirstAutomatic with @thisisgabirelseow (Part 1)
Part 1: Get to know more about @thisisgabirelseow
Meet Gabriel Seow, also known as @thisisgabirelseow on Instagram. Here he shares with us his first experiences with Arbutus and how Arbutus Bronze ARBR01GBB is an ideal choice for his first mechanical watch.
Who are you and what do you do?
I am Gabriel. Born and raised in Singapore. I am currently a Personal Trainer at Trident and an influencer at Night Owl Cinematics. I am usually a very laid back guy and would always like to keep things simple and fun with my closest group of friends whenever I can. I do believe in being as genuine as I can and with that, I usually receive the same with the people I work with or meet. Giving back to society or helping out whoever we can within our abilities is something I believe in too.
The fact that we can always go further than what we believe is our limit is truly an amazing thing. It does not only apply to fitness but to the overall health of our mental and physical self. Achieving something new, getting better at something with practice or even starting out with something I am unfamiliar with gives me ideas and inspiration to go further with it. I love to see how and what I can do to go further with ideas. I am fascinated by the ideas and thoughts that a mind can create due to its endless creativity.
I’ll say I am fairly good at my job, a personal trainer. I believe so, simply because I love doing my job and I produce results.
Tell us what inspires you or who are your inspirations in life?
That we are so small on this Earth and not even comparing anything beyond it. We live for a limited amount of time and though sometimes it is hard to be inspired or be the best at whatever we do, I will still try my hardest to live as much as I can. I have many inspirational figures in my life. My brother would be one of them. Ryan Tan from NOC would be my other inspirational figure.
Tell us about your dreams for the future?
To give back unconditionally, to help others who are trying to get somewhere in life be it work or mental. I do wish for a healthier environment everywhere physically and virtually. To inspire people however. To make full use of my position as an influencer to inspire and influence society to keep a happy life.
As an influencer, what kind of content do you cover?
I cover fitness, acting and fashion. These are my main contents. Fitness would be the obvious one coming from being a PT. I wanted to cover fitness too because I have received messages about teenagers from the ages of 13-15 asking me about my opinions of working out and the reason is always pointing back to bullying and I just hope I can inspire and help out as much as I can.
I have always been into acting. I have acted in a few series. Acting was always fun for me because I get to be a character that people would not be in this lifetime and I’ve always wanted to be an actor ever since I was little. To be so vulnerable on screen is precious to me.
I like to occasionally dress up for events. I despise it when I am told “dressing up” is a feminine thing to do. I do not see what is wrong with looking your best, be it your sex or orientation. I will admit that my dress sense is good enough to know the look I am going for or what I can do in fashion. I do admit, fashion is relatively subjective and many fashion types appeal to different types of people.
What would you like to tell your followers in terms of life advice?
Give back unconditionally within your means and do not expect a return.
If you are having a good day, make full use of the day. Enjoy as much as you can. That happiness might even carry over to the next day.
Be genuine and grateful. You will start to realize it is a 2-way thing. You might not realize or experience it now, but you will someday.
