Arbutus #MyFirstAutomatic with @christyfrisbee (Part 3)

Part 3: My First Home @christyfrisbee

Meet Christy Ho, also known as @christyfrisbee on Instagram. Here she shares with us her first experiences with Arbutus and how Arbutus Ladies Skeleton AR1720SWS is an ideal choice for her first mechanical watch.

How did you feel and what was your experience with buying your first house?

Buying your first home can get a little daunting but with the help of a trusted professional (who happens to be a friend of mine), my fiance and I have been able to view some suitable units!

What do you consider when house-hunting?

We considered quite a few things but ranked them by priority.

1. Location

2. Budget

3. Mid-High Floor min #6

4. Amenities

5. Newness

My fiance also requested that we consider geomancy elements as well, just to be safe. So we consulted a Feng Shui master on whether our shortlisted units would be good fits for our bazis.

What do you look for when picking a home renovation company?

I’ve actually recently joined a Facebook group called ‘Budget Reno Singapore’ and it’s been a great help. The community there consists of new home owners and everyone shares their experiences - good and bad. The topics range from which Interior Design Firms to approach to best ways to waterproof the bathroom tiles. It warms my heart to see everyone helping each other out!

What does our dream home look like?

Our dream home will be very woody and have lots of natural light! Both my fiance and I are fans of dark wood elements and also plan to inject some forest green to bring ‘nature’ into the space. We’re both home bodies so it’s important for us to make the space as cosy as possible!

What advice/tips would you give to first-time home buyers?

Wow, so many tips! Do your own research before engaging an agent (if you plan to) so that you’re more informed going into discussions, especially on what criteria you’d like to have them prioritize. This makes the process so much more efficient! Also, be prepared for things to not go your way as the process involves so many other parties. Top tip? Go in with an open mind and you’ll be surprised to see how much the idea of your ‘dream home’ can change along the way!
